It’s hot and the neighborhood is hoppin’. Over the last two days, I wore these 3 outfits.
It went from 32 degrees on Thurs to 80 on Friday to 72 today. Whenever it warms up, the streets get crazy. The biker gang comes out, which is basically a mob of 20 dudes on bikes, ATVs, bat mobiles roaming the streets doing pop a wheelies and donuts around regular cars. Pedestrians cheer them on as they drive by. Police officers don’t bat an eye. Every domestic dispute spills over into the street. And the air fills with the sweet nostalgic scent of marijuana. All signs that spring is here to stay.
In the first outfit, I’m wearing my new *pre-owned bodysuit from J Crew. Bodysuits look great with anything high waisted and smooth things out nicely. I liked the solid seamwork on it. J crew can be hit or miss with quality but I could tell this one was solid by examining the neckline and buttons.
Today I wore this outfit to walk Freddy in the park. He’s impatiently waiting for me in the back there, ha. The weather app read 68 degrees which is still cold to me, so I decided to wear this sweater, but it felt more like 75 at the park! I was burning up and so regretted this outfit choice. So when I got home, I changed into a linen shell top.
While walking in the park today, I listened to the popcast on the new Cardi B album, which is on fire right now. Her delivery is sharp; the lyrics are all about authenticity, and feel very empowering for women. I was sad to hear that she felt like she needed to tone down her accent though, when that’s part of why she’s such a hit. It’ll be interesting to see where things go with her. My favorite song right now is “I do” featuring SZA. But the whole album is pretty solid. A rarity in the hip hop world.
[outfits: *j crew bodysuit, elizabeth suzann twill clyde work pants, SAS sandals; ATM sweater, APC japanese denim; *eileen fisher top, *black crane corduroy carpenter pants, *cluse watch]

Your neighborhood description is hilarious and so apt! It completely reminds me of what it’s like in Philly where we used to live, especially the marijuana smell because the first floor neighbors smoked all. the. time. [and that is why we had to replace all of our furniture when we moved]. I’ll be honest, I don’t miss it at all.
I’m still against body suits, but that J Crew one does look nice.

I’m not sure if I’m going to miss it at all either. But do feel happy about moving away soon. The city can really burn one out. Body suits can look tacky, which is why i like them in small doses and would usually layer stuff over it. What i really don’t get are the ones without the gusset buttons.

My area is similar.. when it warms up, things get a little crazy out there. Getting dressed is tricky with all these fluctuations in temperature. I still brought a sweater out with me just in case, but didn’t end up needing it.
