outfit: for a slow snow day

This is what I wore for a walk in Central Park with Freddy today. It’s snowing hard outside.

We walked in the middle of the road because there were hardly any cars out and I wanted to avoid all those salt crystals on the ground that hurt my dog’s feet.  I took out my heavy duty winter boots and as you can see they are pretty mucky with old salt and sludge stains.  But these are truly amazing boots.  They do a good job of stabilizing the foot and ankles to prevent falls.  I’m sipping coffee from my new Yeti cup.  It’s keeps things cold or hot for a really long time.  It’s life changing.  The BF has one for his iced teas.  It’s the only cup he uses and he uses it every day, which has cut down a lot on the number of cups I need to hand wash.  Thank god.

I’m wearing another top by ATM.  It’s an ultra smooth sweat shirt with interesting seam work.  It has that inside out appearance on the edges and seems to be made of only two pieces of fabric that are sewn together.  It’s also reversible if you remove the tags.  But I don’t plan on removing the tags.  In the above picture it’s inside out around my shoulders.

For all my complaints about Everlane’s puffer.  The biggest being the high ass placement of the side pockets.  This puffer is the warmest coat I’ve ever owned.  By the time I got back home, I started overheating and had to wear it open.

And here’s what Freddy wore today:  a neon orange weatherbeeta coat in extra large, with musher’s mash painted on his paws, lol.

When I got home, I decided to make a bowl of instant ramen. I like the fancy version from Japanese brand Nissin.  I like to add some Mrs. Dash to the boiling broth, freshly ground pepper, some veggies, and a sunny side up egg to liven it up a bit.  And whenever I have my all purpose ginger garlic scallion sauce prepped in the fridge ahead of time, I’ll add a spoonful of that to the broth, which really takes it over the top.

  1. Your outfit looks super comfy and your ramen looks much more fancy than mine. I also had instant ramen for lunch today! Mine was the tonkotsu flavor from Goku-uma.
Freddy looks quite happy to be running around in the snow.

  2. I love instant Ramen, too. I prefer the chicken flavor, with small veggies thrown in (in college I often did frozen corn and peas, and sometimes do that now, but it’s also good with soybeans for a little more protein).

Your coat is similar to my puffer (ages old) from Land’s End. I like my pocket placement though! I think my LE coat has a few winters left in it, and I like the look of the Everlane one quite a bit. I do wish Everlane love wasn’t qualified, and so often it is (“I love it so much, except for ___.”

  3. Pockets aside, at least the puffer did its job. Will you be traveling back east much once you move to the west coast? It’s so nice to have a coat that can really stand up to the weather, but not very convenient for it to take up space in your closet if you are only going to use it once or twice a year. I wonder if the “puffiness” can survive being vacuum sealed? At least then it would take up a lot less room.

    1. I’ll probably not travel back much but will hold onto it in case I ever travel to Alaska or somewhere really cold. Have not tried the vacuum sealer bags but that’s a great idea and will prevent moth holes too. I think the puffiness will survive, like a comforter would.
