I feel very cool and 90’s in this oversized wool blazer from EL.
It makes me want to put my hands on my hips constantly to create that power silhouette a la Elaine on Seinfeld.
It does sort of feel like I’m wearing a costume. Any blazer makes me feel that way actually. I really do love the style, but I’ll have to return it because it doesn’t serve my purposes. I need an easy blazer to travel with for job interviews. And I worry this will wrinkle too easily in a suitcase. For that reason, I’m going to exchange it for the wrinkle resistant go weave blazer, and will report back. Stay tuned.
I’ve been so curious about this blazer for a long time and finally decided to give it a try. I usually don’t wear blazers, but if I did, like if I worked in law or finance, I would definitely keep this.
For reference I’m wearing XS and it fits perfectly (my measurements are 34″-29″-36″, and I’m 5’5″). The construction feels solid, although very lightweight (this could be a good or bad thing depending on what you’re going for; I think lightweight is preferable). The best part: there are 3 huge pockets that make this blazer practical for someone who needs to carry around lots of stuff at work. There’s a hidden internal pocket as well.
The fit is oversized so I could imagine this might “swallow up” petite women or add too much heft to a women who are already top heavy.
Conclusion: Perfect updated versions of the 90s tomboy blazer. Recommend if you need a casual everyday blazer. But probably not practical for traveling as it wrinkles easily.

ps. I recently put up some things for sale at my poshmark closet here.
Good review, and hopefully the GoWeave one will better suit your needs! I only owned synthetic suit separates before, and they basically never wrinkle, even after being rolled up in a suitcase for a while, so needing to deal with wrinkles after I started wearing wool-blend suits was a very new thing.
I still can’t get used to wearing blazers, even though I’ve gotten used to putting on full business formal for the occasions that require it. It still feels like putting on a costume.

Oh good. I have little experience with it so I’m glad it sounds like synthetic will work out. Blazers have always felt strange to me.

It looks good on you! I get the costume feeling though. I am looking for a blazer right now but am having a hard time telling if I just think I need one or if it’s actually my style. I don’t foresee needing to interview for things in the near future but I like the idea of mashing up “professional” with artsy.

have you ever owned and worn a blazer before? it could be worth experimenting with with tags still on and if it doesn’t work out you can return.

You look very cool in the blazer! I love the structured look. I might try this out as I’ve been casually searching to replace my old one.

thanks. yeah if you already wear blazers and know their for you, this is a good option at a very reasonable price point.
